This command has the format: \topmargin{uu} where "uu" is the unit of measurement in number of lines or in any valid TeX measurement (pt, pc, in, etc.). The default top margin is one inch, or \topmargin{1IN}. This command may only appear at the beginning of the TeX input file before any actual text is entered. In order to change the top margin from the default of one inch to one-half inch, you would enter: \tma{.5in} Which would give you one-half inch between the top of the page to the top of the running top title.
