NEWS ABOUT TEA
TEA 10.1, 01 july 2005
http://tea.linux.kiev.ua

Here we are. What's new in this cup of TEA? The Spanish translation updated by Miguel Latorre, the Czech translation updated by Zbynek Mrkvicka, and the Polish translation updated by Wit Wilinski - so TEA, as always, is a truly international program.

I was a bit busy with my work, folk/punk band (where I'm the drummer) stuff (making video, etc) and preparing to film a short movie, so TEA 10.1 has only a small set of new features.

On the "Preferences - Editor" page you can find the "Highlight the current line" checkbox. Use the "Preferences - Colors" page to customize the current line highlighting color.

"IDE - Run" menu item was renamed to "IDE - Execute" due to another renaming - the "Bro" menu to the "Run" menu. Now this menu holds an user-defined list similar to the "User" menu (which removed as a duplicated by the "Run" menu). Use "File - Manage config files - External programs list config" to add your programs into this menu.

At the Preferences windows, the Browsers page also was removed and some options from there are moved to the Commands page. The Fonts page now has the "Change all fonts" button.

"Kwas - Actions - Generate the file list for Cinelerra" is removed due to my new program Seven Gnomes - by the way, Seven Gnomes may be interesting for you, if you work with Cinelerra and non-linear video editing under Linux.

And the last bit of information. Now I'm working on the TEA fork. It's called Chai. Chai is under a heavy development and I don't know when it appears on the public. Chai uses GtkSourceView as the text engine (dynamic highlighting, visual brackets matching, etc), GnomeVFS and gconf, so Chai will not be depended on Gtk+2 only. And Chai will not replace the original TEA. The current state of Chai is still very unstable, so wait some months (years, ages). I'm even not sure that I'll finish it. So stay tuned. Cheers.
