A lot of new stuff! You can now select an interesting result in the result list to see further details about it such as part of speech, dialect and so on. Kanjidic2 is now supported: Nihongo Benkyo can show number of strokes, readings, meanings etc about a given kanji. The words you searched are also saved in a history so you can easily go back to words you've searched. It is highly recommended to upgrade to this version. See Changelog for full details.

With this release, you can now import EDICT, JMDict and JMnedict file formats. It is recommended now to use JMDict for your main dictionary. The import has also been made a lot faster. Some bugs have been fixed. A new configuration system has been written in order to remove the Gconf2 dependency so that Nihongo Benkyo can be used on MS Windows quite easily. Results are now displayed in a list which can be sorted and the visible columns of which can be chosen. Nihongo Benkyo has got two new translations : japanese and spanish. See the Changelog and the updated TODO list. Please note that it is required to remove ~/.nihongobenkyo/dic.db to upgrade from version 0.1 to version 0.2.

This release focuses on the dictionary functions. Nihongo Benkyo uses a database engine so it can retrieve dictionary entries very quickly from kanji, hiragana, katakana, romaji or translation. In the settings, provided nihongobenkyo-import is installed on your system, you can import some dictionary ressources in the database. Currently, only the Edict file format is supported but many dictionaries are available in this format (see related links). You can select the dictionaries in which Nihongo Benkyo will seek entries and you can give a priority to each dictionary. For example, if you are german you can tell Nihongo Benkyo to display german entries before english entries. Last but not the least, Nihongo Benkyo can scan the selection from other applications. For example, if you are reading a japanese page in your browser or chatting with a friend on IM, selecting a word will popup Nihongo Benkyo with the results of the selected word.
